Basketball Club Split
Basketball Club Split was established in 1945, at the beginning they were competing in lower divisions for more than a decade before they finally made it to Yugoslav First Federal League in season 1963/64. In 1967 the club changed his name in ”KK Jugoplastika” and kept it until 1990, at that time ”Jugoplastika” was a very successful company from Split and they were sponsoring the club, under this name the club has accomplished his greatest achievements.
Basketball Club Split won the National Championship 7 times, they were Cup winners 10 times, 2 times Korać Cup winners, and most significant title of all, European champions. They are, together with the first champions, ASK Riga from Latvia the only team to win the Euroleague trophy three times in a row, in the years 1989, 1990 and 1991. KK Split gave some of the best Croatian basketball players who were also playing in NBA League, such as Dino Rađa, Toni Kukoč, Žan Tabak and many others.
KK Split is the best European basketball team of the 20th century, voted by FIBA, the International Basketball Federation. Nowadays KK Split is playing in ABA League, commonly known as the Adriatic League, a top-level regional basketball league, featuring teams from Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, Macedonia, Montenegro, Serbia, Slovenia and Hungary. Unfortunately this is not the best time for our club that is struggling to stay in the league. On Thursday, March 14 KK Split is playing his last home game of the season against ”Radnički” from Serbia, the game will take place at Basketball Hall Split, Ulica slobode 16b at 19:00h.
We hope to see our club taking back the top of Europe again in future. Hotel Globo Split invites you to come and support KK Split, and for your accommodation in Split our comfortable hotel rooms are at your disposal at very special prices.
