Dear readers, on this occasion we will tell you little bit more about our beautiful town, Split.

Split is a Mediterranean city on the eastern shores of the Adriatic sea, second largest city in Croatia, economic, administrative, educational, sport and tourist center of Dalmatia county, traffic connection to Croatia islands, pearls of Adriatic like Hvar, Vis, Brac and Solta. Split is also one of the oldest cities in the area, traditionally it is considered just over 1700 years old counting from the time of Emperor Diocletian, but according to archaeological research the original founding of the city goes back further in time in the 6th century BC as Greek colony Aspalathos.

Located in one of the sunniest parts of the Mediterranean, Split is well known for its mild climate,  with 2700 sunny hours per year, making it a perfect oasis, where sheltered from the wind you can enjoy the sun even in wintertime.

Considering the population of the town, Split is also ranked among the cities with the most successful athletes who have won Olympic, World and European medals in swimming, water polo, rowing, sailing, soccer, basketball, handball, athletics, martial arts, tennis…

Split is one of the most important tourist destinations in Croatia, with many attractions, some of them were already mentioned in our previous posts and some of them will be presented in the following posts.
